Apres-Ski / Nightlife
When
lifts close at Taos Ski Valley, skiers head to the deck of the
Hotel St. Bernard, the Martini
Tree Bar at the Resort Center, the Edelweiss Bar and patio, or to drink German beer at The Bavarian. Tim's Stray Dog Cantina serves up
fiery chicken wings at 3 p.m., normally with a good crowd.
The place to be and be seen is the Edelweiss Bar where Craig, Julia Robert's personal Taos margarita maker, will happily create a personal margarita from scratch with fresh-squeezed lime. The wine list is excellent as well. Entertainment ranging from bluegrass to Spanish guitar normally plays from 59 p.m.
The Inn at Snakedance has entertainment
nightly.
On
the road back to the town of Taos, OBL (Old Blinking Light)
serves the areas biggest margaritas and the Anaconda Bar
at El Monte Sagrado has great apres-ski bar food.
Its livelier in Taos town, but not wild (unless you hit the Alley Cantina on a good night). The Alley Cantina has a live band and wild dancing some nights. Check the schedule, youll love it. The Sagebrush Inn has C&W dances. The Kachina Lodges Cabaret Room has a dance floor and occasional acts such as Arlo Guthrie, and Ogelvies Bar and Grill in Taos Plaza hops. For microbrew fans, Eskes Brew Pub off the Taos Plaza is the spot. Be sure to try the unique Green Chili Beer at least once. Skiers and local artists mix at the Adobe Bar of the Taos Inn, the living room for artsy locals. Order a margarita and watch the beautiful people.
Up at the Taos Pueblo there is gambling at the Taos Mountain Casino. The Taos News has a weekly entertainment guide. |
