Group lessons: Two hours, morning or afternoon, $49. Some lessons at Taos concentrate on specific skills, such as moguls or telemarking.

First-timer package: Novice lift ticket, 4.5-hour lesson and rentals for $85; two days cost $130. All two-day participants who complete the classes get a special guarantee: If you can't yet ski Whitefeather from the top of Lift #1, you can take as many free lessons as it takes to master this feat.

Those who master the two-day class can take a lesson package with rentals and lift ticket for $90.

Private lessons: For up to four skiers, costs are $150 for one hour, $225 for two hours, $325 for a half day, and $525 for a full day.

Special programs: Ski Weeks are the core of the Taos ski experience, developed by former French Junior Alpine champion and ski school technical director Jean Mayer. Participants are matched for six mornings of intensive lessons, and they ski with the same instructor all week. Sixty-five percent of the participants are intermediate or higher. Ski Week costs $225 for six days (lift ticket extra). In January Ski Weeks are priced specially at $75 (plus, lifts tickets). Many lodging properties offer the Ski Better Week as a package with meals and accommodations. There are Specialized Ski Week programs for women, teens and for ages 50 and older at select times during the season.

Taos Ski Valley also has shorter camp programs that concentrate on specifics, such as Moguls or Extreme Weekends, designed to aid advanced and expert skiers; and Women's Weekends. Call for details and reservations.
