If your skiing ends in Warm Springs, Apples is the spot for a mountainside debriefing. Overall, Warm Springs is the top base for slopeside revelry. Just remember not to take beverages on the bus; drivers are quick to enforce the rules.

The Boiler Room at Sun Valley has the Mike Murphy comedy show every afternoon at 5 p.m. for a moderate cover charge. Check the schedule for "Sun Valley Serenade" and Warren Miller movies at the Opera House in Sun Valley starting at 5 p.m. And the Duchin Room in the Lodge has music starting at 4 p.m. On Thursdays, head to River Run Lodge for musical entertainment.

SUN VALLEY RESORT ENTERTAINMENT AND NIGHTLIFE

At the western-bar-themed Whiskey Jacques, a favorite Hemingway haunt, patrons can listen to live music and dance inside an authentic log building. The Pioneer Saloon is famous for its steaks, prime rib, and decorations (mounted elk and moose). The saloon gets very crowded very early on weekends.

Another popular spot is The Casino, so named because there used to be slot machines where the tables now stand. Gambling is now illegal in this part of the country. It's something of a departure from the more intense nightclubs in the area with the dance floor replaced by pool tables.

The newest bar is Cellar Pub, an authentic Irish pub. It's a local's favorite that's smoke free and ambiance rich. You can get a hearty plate of fish & chips until 10 p.m.

The Sun Valley Wine Company has a wine cellar, reportedly the largest wine selection in Idaho, and offers a light lunch and dinner menu. It's above the Ketchum state liquor store on Leadville Street. Choose a bottle of wine from its large inventory, then enjoy it in a quiet, conversation-oriented environment next to a fireplace. It's open 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. weekdays but do close earlier if things are slow.

It's Lefty's Bar & Grill for locals, darts and draft beers. As the unofficial post-game headquarters of the Sun Valley Suns ice hockey team, this little hole in the wall really packs a crowd.
