Colorado Rocky Ballooning (468-9280) sails the Summit skies year-round weather permitting.

Summit Activities Center offers an activity concierge service at (888) 230-2844 or 547-1594.

Cross-country ski or snowshoe at the Frisco Nordic Center (668-0866) on Hwy. 9 about 1 mile out of town toward Breckenridge. Rentals and instruction are available. The Frisco Nordic Center is now tied into Breckenridge Nordic Center and Gold Run Nordic Center, providing more than 90 km. on one pass (see Breckenridge for details).

Pack an extra suitcase for shopping. Better yet, buy a bag at one of the luggage stores in the Silverthorne and Dillon Outlet Stores. Then fill it with bargains at nearly 80 brand-name stores. This is probably the largest factory outlet center in Western ski country. Among the stores are Anne Klein, Liz Claiborne, Jones New York, Levi, Nike, Bass Shoes, American Tourister and Samsonite.

Collectibles and antiques lovers will go bonkers at Junk-Tique, 313 Main St. in Frisco. It has an excellent inventory of collectible housewares, clothing and furniture. The store also stocks some new jewelry and knickknacks. Kids will love the huge black locomotive that is the centerpiece of the store. Also on Frisco's Main St. are Todd Powell Photography Gallery and Blue River Pottery Studio Gallery. Buffalo Mountain Gallery for western art is at 711 Granite St. Cigar lovers can stop by Antler's Liquor Store in front of Wal-Mart, which has what the owner claims is the largest humidor room in Colorado. Next door, Antler's Ski & Sport carries a large supply of everything for outdoor sports from shoes to sunglasses.
