Getting
there
By air and car: Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne are just off
I-70, about 75 miles west of downtown Denver and 90 miles from Denver
International Airport. Colorado Mountain Express vans (888-426-9523;
970-468-7600) transport from Denver International Airport, about
two hours away.
Getting around: Frisco is laid out nicely for walking along
Main Street. Dillon Town Center is walkable, but the rest of Dillon and Silverthorne are too spread out for strolling around, but a bike path connects the two. The Summit Stage is a free bus system that links the two
towns and the ski areas until 2 a.m. Summit Taxi (970-468-2266)
provides transportation to the entire community.
A car is an option here. Most distances are too
far for walking, but the Summit Stage is reliable. Call (970) 668-0999
for route info or pick up a route map and schedule from any Visitor Information
Center in the county or at various stores. Note that the bus takes about an hour
to get from one resort to another. If you really enjoy nightlife
and want to do extensive exploration of the restaurants and bars,
we recommend a car. There are several car rental agencies in Summit
County. One is Hertz based in Frisco, 668-1031 |
