Sugarloaf has a Turbo Tubing park with its own lift and four 1,000-foot chutes. The park is open various days depending on the season, with one session midweek and two on weekends. The fee is $12 per session.
The Anti-Gravity Complex (referred to as the AGC), at the base of the access road, provides a place to work off any energy not burned on the slopes. It has one of the highest indoor climbing walls in New England as well as an indoor skating park, basketball court, track, weight room, trampolines, aerobic programs and more.
The Sugarloaf Sports & Fitness Club, free to on-mountain guests, has an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, steam room, sauna, weight room, racquetball courts, indoor climbing wall, Internet cafe and massage services. On busy weekends and days with inclement weather, the fitness club can be crowded with screaming kids, so couples may want to stay in condos that have hot tubs. Dogsledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobiling, ice fishing and skating are among the activities that Sugarloaf Guest Services can arrange (207-237-2000). Special events: Sugarloaf rolls back prices during White White World Week, held in late January. The annual Reggae Weekend, usually in mid-April, is a two-day bash with indoor and outdoor reggae bands. Book well in advance, as it usually sells out. While there are few shops, that's not why folks come here. Kingfield has a handful of shops and galleries; Farmington and Rangeley, each about 45 minutes away, have more choices. |
