Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, North Lake Tahoe Region, California

Mountain Layout—Snowboarding

Strawberry Fields and Crow's Nest Face are not to be missed on powder days. The groomers off the Jerome Hill Express are great for high-speed arcs. Remember to keep your speed up for the flat between the Mid Mountain Lodge and Village Lodge and at the bottom of the runs down from Crow's Nest.

Parks and pipes
Sugar Bowl has incredible natural hits and quarterpipes. Real experts should check out the 58's and Palisades off Mt. Lincoln, and the Sugar Bowl off the Disney Express. On Sunset (off the Mt. Judah Express lift), the resort takes advantage of the natural gully-like terrain with added banks, whoops, gullies and drops.

If that isn't enough there are manmade terrain parks to suit every ability level. A joint sponsorship with SnowBomb means the parks are bigger with more terrain features for everyone. Sugar Bowl has two major parks, Golden Gate Terrain Park and The Switching Yard on Coldstream, both off the Mt. Judah Express lift. Expect to find tabletops, rainbow rails, step-ups, boxes, spines and hips. For beginners and children, a dedicated family park on Nob Hill is within eyesight of the Village Lodge deck. Skilled skiers and riders will find the superpipe near the base of the Mt. Lincoln Express.
