The town of Manchester is a tourism mecca with accommodations from giant resorts and B&Bs to a slew of lesser-priced roadside motels. The Manchester and Mountains Chamber (362-2100) and the Londonderry Chamber (824-8178) can help with arrangements. The hotels and B&Bs listed below are near the ski areas.

At Stratton: Lift and lodging packages (midweek, non-holiday) begin at $59 per person, per night, based on double occupancy. For reservations at any of Stratton’s lodges, call 800-787-2886 (800-STRATTON). The Long Trail House units will comfortably house a family for an extended stay, with an outdoor heated pool, hot tubs and underground climate-controlled parking. The Inn at Stratton Mountain is a full-service lodge that’s also good for families. TheLift Line Lodge provides Stratton’s most economical lodging on the mountain and has many of the resort’s restaurants. Stratton Reservations also has plenty of condo in the village and on the valleyside, all within easy reach of the slopes.

Note: Stratton Mountain packages offer great discounts. Children younger than age 6 stay and ski free anytime. Children 12 and younger stay free in the same room with their parents.

Down the road in Jamaica (the town, not the Caribbean island), we highly recommend the elegant colonial Three Mountain Inn (800-532-9399; 874-4140; $$–$$$). On the Select Registry of distinguished inns, the Three Mountain is both cozy and elegant, and the innkeepers strive to exceed your expectations.

On Rte. 11, the Swiss Inn (800-847-9477; 824-3442; $–$$) has basic rooms but a wonderful restaurant. For an upscale B&B experience, call The Macartney House (800-498-6445; 824-6444; $$–$$$). One mile down the road from Bromley is the Wiley Inn (888-843-6600; 824-6600; $–$$), good for couples and families alike. The Londonderry Inn (824-5226; $$), on Rte. 100, has 25 individually decorated rooms.
