Solitude Mountain Resort, Utah

Lift tickets (2007/08 prices)

- Adult Child
(7–13)

Who skis free: Ages 6 and younger ski for free, but need to get a ticket.

Who skis at a discount: Ages 70+ pay $25. A beginner lift ticket, valid on the Link and Moonbeam II chairs, is $41.

Note: Solitude is ahead of other North American resorts in its ticketing system. It has a Ride Access Card, an electronic ticketing system that allows skiers to pay by the run. It's completely transferable, usable on any day during the season and better than purchasing a multiday ticket. It's great for parents with young children (because you can share the ticket and switch babysitting duties); destination guests who only want to ski or ride for a half day; and guests who plan to ski or ride till they drop. The reuseable card allows you to pay for individual lift rides, sold in increments of 10. The maximum number of rides the system will take off in a day is 10. So, if you buy a 30-ride ticket, and then ride 30 lifts in one day, you only lose 10 rides and still have two days or 20 rides left. Ten rides cost $57; 20 rides, $112; 30 rides, $168; 40 rides, $224; 50 rides, $280. Remember: Help keep ticket costs down by recycling your card when leaving the resort; drop it at any of the convenient locations resort-wide.

A combination lift ticket for Solitude and Brighton costs $63.
