Solitude Mountain Resort, Utah

KidStuff (2007/08 prices)

Child care: Play Academy is available for 4 and younger, $85 for a full day, or $15 an hour.

Chilidren's Play N Ski programs for kids ages 2 – 4 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. cost $140 and include a minimum of two hours spent skiing. Participants should bring their own equipment and clothing. Lift and lunch is included.

Children's lessons: Because Solitude is so family-oriented, its Moonbeam Ski & Snowboard Academy is one of the resort's strengths. Everything required to get kids outfitted, out onto the slopes—and fed, too—is under one roof.

Ski lessons are offered for kids ages 4–12; snowboard lessons are for ages 7–12. The full-day program with lift ticket and lunch is $105; a half day without lunch is $65. Multiday packages available. Rentals cost $15 per day. A learn-to-ski or -snowboard package includes all-day lesson, rentals, lift ticket and rentals for $120.

Private one-hour ski lessons for kids ages 2–4 and private snowboard lessons for kids 4–7 cost $75; reservations required.

Other activities: Club Solitude keeps kids busy with an outdoor heated pool and hot tub, a movie room, billiard room and kids-only game room featuring X-boxes. The village center is anchored by a skating rink.
