Lodging at Snowbird

All lodging at Snowbird which is all within walking distance of the base lifts, can be reserved by calling Snowbird Central Reservations (800-453-3000) or found online at any of these links. Winter season continues mid-December through early April; value season is before and after those dates. Snowbird also has added a January value season where rates are between the high and low seasons. Snowbird's season is a long one, most years lasting well into May.

The Cliff Lodge ($$$–$$$$; above right) spreads like an eagle's wings at the base. The concrete-and-glass behemoth underwent a $5.6 million upgrade in 2006 and belies the luxury that awaits inside. There's an 11-story atrium, a renowned spa (see Other Activities) and a sheltered rooftop with a heated pool overlooking the slopes. The pool complex has a trio of hot tubs, an outdoor heated pool and a nearby fruit-juice bar. The lodge showcases an enormous Oriental rug collection throughout the lobbies and includes at least one in every room. Mountain-view rooms have picture windows from the showers that have a view into the sleeping area and out to the vista beyond (there's a shower curtain you can pull for modesty). As part of the renovation, the rooms also have flat-screen TVs, as well as new bedding, bath fixtures, and artwork. Spa-level rooms now feature Tempur-Pedic beds. The Cliff Lodge also has suites. Children younger than 12 stay and ski free with adults.

The Lodge at Snowbird ($$–$$$$), The Inn ($$–$$$$), and the Iron Blosam Lodge ($$–$$$$; left) are three condominium complexes with similar layouts. They're not as elegant or as expensive as the Cliff Lodge but are well maintained, roomy and comfortable. Amenities include outdoor swimming pools, indoor hot tubs and saunas. Rates start at $125 for an efficiency or studio during value season and top out at $539–$819 for a one-bedroom with loft during winter season.
