Child
care: Ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Camp Snowbird is located on level I of the Cliff Lodge. These prices are for regular season; value season prices are lower. It costs $95 a day with lunch for ages 6 weeks to 3 years; $90 for ages 3 years (toilet-trained) to 12 years, half day is $75. Evening babysitting is $16 an hour (minimum 3 hours), $2 for each additional child (maximum 4 kids), but you must be staying in a Snowbird lodge to use this service; 48-hour advance reservation required, cancel by 2 p.m. or pay a $25 fee. Reservations suggested for all child care; reservations two weeks in advance are required for infants and toddlers. Call Camp Snowbird at (801) 933-2256, or reserve when you book your vacation. Child care for infants and toddlers must be made 2 weeks in advance and paid for at the time of booking with a credit card.
Children's lessons:
A program for 3-year-olds includes a one-hour private lesson with a half-day session of child care for $125 (with lunch and rentals); a full day costs $195.
Kids 46 get a program that combines a morning and afternoon lesson with indoor activities for $175 (with lunch and rentals). This program meets on Level 2 of the Snowbird Center.
For ages 715, a full-day program with lunch and lessons costs $150 and meets in the Chickadee Bowl in the Snowbird Center. Ability levels are separated. Reservations are required for all children.
SNOWMONSTERS | ADVENTURE TEAM
Private lessons: $375 for a 3-hour lesson for one, $435 per hour for 2-5 people. Six-hour private lesson costs $600 for one, $700 for 2-5 people.
Special programs: During holiday periods, The Dawn Patrol introduces kids ages 8 and up (advanced to expert skiers and riders only) to mountain safety and lets them experience the mountain in the early morning hours (weather permitting).
The experience includes an overview of ski patrol preparations and a short presentation on avalanche safety and mountain awareness. Kids and their families meet the avalanche dogs, visit a snow study area, and tour the artillery used for avalanche control. The program meets at 7:15 a.m. and finishes in time for morning mountain school classes.
Cost is $30 and reservations are not accepted until the designated week. Look for Dawn Patrol signs for information on when the next patrol will run.
Mountain Adventures is for teens 13-15 who want to ski or ride all day with a group of peers and a cool instructor. The cost is $150 a day and classes are held a week each month (normally the last week of the month).
Special activities: Kids' Night Out is for ages 46 and includes crafts, movies, outdoor play and dinner. Adventures After Dark is for ages 715 and includes outdoor activities such as snowshoeing, tubing, movies and dinner. Both programs are offered Wednesday and Saturday from 6:30-10 p.m.; reservations required. Wednesday nights cost $50, with second child in same family for $45; Saturday nights cost $60, second child in same family, $55. Prices are higher on New Year's Eve. Board games and playing cards are available at the front desk of all of Snowbird's hotels. Snowbird also has arcades throughout the Snowbird Villagein the Iron Blosam Lodge on Level 2, in the Cliff Lodge on Level A, and in the Snowbird Center on Level 1. |
