Lodging in the Eastern Townships ranges from condos and cottages to inns, hotels and B&Bs. Make sure to ask about ski packages when arranging your lodging. Even the more pricey accommodations have some excellent packages that make it affordable to stay in luxury. Also inquire about meal plans, many include breakfast and Table d'hôte (set dinner menu).

We're listing accommodations that are near each resort, but you also may want to consider staying somewhere in between if you plan to ski several or all of them, since they are anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes apart. Our list doesn't even begin to touch the breadth and variety of lodging available here.

Orford
The full-service Auberge Estrimont (800-567-7320; 819-843-1616; $$$), just minutes away from the mountain, has suites with a sunken living room, fireplace, balcony and small refrigerator. Massage and spa services also are available, as are a fitness center and an indoor pool. Breakfast is included; MAP packages are available.

Manoir des Sables (800-567-3514; 819-847-4747; $$$) has 141 deluxe rooms and suites and is set on its own private lake and golf course. Some rooms have a fireplace, jetted tub and mini-bar. Facilities include an indoor pool, health center and the Algonherapie Spa, offering wraps, massage, reiki, facials and other services. Service was spotty and lukewarm at best, and the atmosphere was similar to a Holiday Inn. Spa Eastman (800-665-5272; 450-297-3009; $$$) is a destination spa, with 44 guest rooms. Services offered include massage, wraps, oxygen, baths and diet cures. Healthful fine dining is part of the program.

Those who prefer condominium lodging should look to O’Berge du Village (888-326-1252; 819-868-1252; $$–$$$), which has fully-equipped units overlooking Lake Memphremagog. It’s within walking distance of downtown and has ready access to the town’s ice skating path. There’s also an indoor pool, saunas, whirlpool and exercise facility.

Worth driving for are three exquisite inns with outstanding service, all on the shores of Lake Massawippi. Auberge Hatley (800-336-2451; 819-842-2451; $$$–$$$$) is renowned in Quebec for its lodging and dining. It holds Relais Gourmands and five-diamond distinctions. The wine cellar has more than 13,000 bottles representing 1,000-plus labels. Many guest rooms have fireplaces, balconies or jetted tubs. Rates include breakfast and dinner. Manoir Hovey (800-661-2421; 819-842-2421; $$–$$$) appears as something out of Gone With The Wind, not surprising since it was built in 1900 as a summer retreat for an Atlanta businessman. It earns high marks for its regional cuisine and its award-winning, 15,000-bottle wine cellar. Many guestrooms have fireplaces, and there’s ice skating and cross-country skiing on the premises. Auberge Ripplecove (800-668-4296; 819-838-4296; $$–$$$) added 10 luxury rooms and a spa in 2003; it was already renowned as a full-service country resort. It also has 35 km. of cross-country ski trails and a skating rink. Specialties in the restaurant ($$$$) include rack of lamb, foie gras and wild game. B&B and MAP are available.

Sutton
The only ski-in/ski-out inn is Auberge La Paimpolaise (800-263-3213; 450-538-3213; $; top left), a charming 28-room inn reminiscent of a Swiss chalet. After a tough day on the slopes, head to the large outdoor hot tub and ask one of the friendly staff to bring you a tasty local beer.

Just down the road, Auberge des Appalaches (877-533-5799; 450-538-5799; $) is a cozy inn owned by long-time locals Micheline Côté and Daniel Martin, who do everything possible to make you feel at home. There are 13 tastefully decorated rooms with private baths and stunning views. The couple guide evening snowshoe tours for guests on the trails of Parc Environment Naturel de Sutton, which are accessed from their property. They also have snow tubing and snow volleyball.

The picturesque Auberge West Brome (888-902-7663; 450-266-7552; $$–$$$$, above right) is about 10 minutes away in West Brome. This upscale country inn has hotel rooms as well as one- and two-bedroom condo suites with a nice-sized kitchen, fireplace and balcony that are great for families. Some suites also have whirlpool baths. Breakfast is delivered to your room or condo.

Auberge Lakeview Inn (800-661-6183; 819-243-6183; $$–$$$) is a gabled, Victorian inn in Lac Brome with rooms and suites equipped with jetted tubs. Rates include breakfast and dinner in the formal Sheffield’s restaurant. Cap your night with a drink in Spencer’s, an English pub. Ski packages with Sutton are available.

If you’re traveling with kids, the Hotel Horizon (877-538-3212; 450-538-3212; $$) is not only family friendly and located just a kilometer from the ski hill, but has the all-important indoor pool as well as an arcade and—get this—a pig roast every Thursday night.

Sutton Accommodation (800-663-0214), a separate entity from Mont Sutton, rents privately-owned condos and chalets, some slopeside or within a very short walking distance. Units vary widely, so make sure to make your requirements clear when booking.

Bromont
Le Château Bromont (800-304-3433; 819-534-3433; $$$–$$$$; left) gives you luxury without airs, creating a delightfully elegant atmosphere and experience just minutes from the slopes. Some rooms have fireplaces and jetted tubs. Don’t miss out on the variety of treatments available at the Spa. It also has a fitness center and indoor and outdoor heated pools.

Hotel Le Menhir (800-461-3790; 450-534-3790; $$), with its indoor, heated pool and on-site restaurant, is a good spot for families; ski packages are available. Bromont sur le lac (534-1818; $$) is another family-friendly facility that offers B&B and ski packages.

Owl's Head
On-mountain lodging includes hotel style rooms or condo-hotel apartments. Owl’s Head Auberge (800-363-3342; 450-292-3342; $–$$) has 20 rooms on the top floor of the base lodge. The meal plan includes breakfast in the cafeteria and dinner in the dining room.

Owl’s Head Apartment Hotel (800-363-3342; 450-292-3318; $–$$) has 36 units, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Condos have a fully equipped kitchen and fireplace, most have a balcony. Guests have access to a solarium lounge and mini-spa with a hot tub and sauna, as well as a laundry room.
