Bromley Mountain, Vermont

Cross-Country
(Area Code 802)

There are cross country facilities near Bromley, but none on site.

The Wild Wings Ski Touring Center (824-6793) in nearby Peru has 25 km. of machine-tracked trails -- ideal for both families on a jaunt and hard-core racers -- that weave through the snow-quiet woods. Rentals and lessons are available.

Viking Ski Touring Center (824-3933; photo right) in Londonderry, has 30 km. of groomed trails through woods and open fields. The terrain is best suited for intermediates, but advanced skiers won't be bored. This is one of the oldest cross-country centers in North America. Here is a trail map of the Viking Touring Center.

Down in Manchester Village, Hildene (362-1788) has 17 km. of trails through the pine-covered estate of Robert Todd Lincoln. There is a warming hut in the carriage barn, with rentals, trail tickets and light refreshments.
