Apres-Ski / Nightlife
Asked
what nightlife was worth a look, one worker first told us, "There
isn't anything," then after a bit of thinking, amended her
response to, "Well, there are some meeting places." The
first place to stop on the way back to town from the Larkspur Bowl
is The Talons Deck at Red Tail Camp, where revelers gather
to begin apres-ski. In the spring, the deck is packed and Sundays
mean live entertainment al fresco.
The Coyote Cafe would
surely qualify as a meeting place, particularly among locals such
as the Beaver Creek Ski Patrol, at the end of the day. This Mexican
cantina/watering hole caters to locals, and with well-drink and
draught-beer specials at the end of the day, its prices are reasonable.
Bartenders can whip up a margarita to get you in the apres-ski mood,
and the staff is intentionally informalin contrast with the
rest of Beaver Creek. Don't plan on staying out lateit closes
at 11 p.m. (as late as 1 a.m. on hopping nights). If you're young
and looking for apres-ski, this is it.
McCoy's is the place
to go for live apres-ski entertainment as soon as you leave the
slopes. Also try the Dusty Boot Saloon, where you'll find
46-ounce margaritas and a comprehensive tequila list. Blue
Moose has great pizza and a fun atmosphere, and the
lowest prices in Beaver Creek Village.
The Park Hyatt's Whiskey Elk bar, which stays open until 2 a.m., features entertainment from local musicians and serves small batch bourbons, single malt scotch, ports and wine by the glass. At night, when the stars are out, it's a dazzling display for tired skiers and snowboarders.
The best deck in Beaver Creek might be at the Chophouse (845-0555). While you watch the sunset with drinks and occasional live music, a magician entertains kids and adults six afternoons a week. |
